Words to Remember

The school year is finished!

It's difficult to believe how quickly this year went by. All of the snow in third quarter must have done the trick.

On the last week of school, I changed my bulletin board (third time in a year!) from the funny memes I'd printed out to a dark paper and handed the students silver/gold sharpies so they could sign it. I told them it was my year book.
The whole board

From "This year I learned..." Deus ex Machina! I'm so proud that I can ALMOST ignore all the other stupid things on there. =)

My favorite part of this year...

Next year I hope...

And to round off this year's "Things my students said":

7th Grade
They need to make the movie more like the book, because this is just confusing. - While reading The Hobbit

When we got past the part in The Hobbit covered in the new movies:
Me: Now when you guys go to see the third Hobbit movie, you get to be one of those people that already knows what will happen!
Boy: NO! I HATE those people!

I had a dream that I was saving fish... underwater! - After I told them I had a dream that we were all detectives breaking into a house together.

You would have been perfect for my old English teacher! But he's now with a lady... she's like an elf.- Girl trying to set me up with a husband.

You should get instagram so I can stalk you!

While on the 6/7th grade class retreat, I woke up early and was reading The Silmarillion. I thought all the girls were still asleep, but apparently they weren't because that week in class, a few of them said:
We saw you... reading. (Like they were in on a deep dark secret in my life)
I think you have a Tolkien problem.

The 7th graders also made a rap for me, which I don't have in full but included the lines "My name is Cool Koz" "I like The Hobbit way too much" and something about making literature cool.

8th Grade

I'm the type of a guy who would take a girl out for a Chik-fil-a date on a Sunday.

Don't use grammar against me!

-The other highlight of 8th grade was me allowing the boys to have a desk race in the hallway at the same moment the fire alarm went off, therefore creating a fire hazard for the entire high school. Well done Miss K.

10th/11th Grade

You look like a Dutch princess.
You look so colonial! - Two separate girls on the day I had my hair in a braid and a flowy skirt

Everything you do... it's like a wood nymph. - 11th grade girl watching me try on the graduation hood.

I gave each class an end of the year survey. One question was "What is one thing you would like to see next year?" One girl answered "Miss K to get a boyfriend." ... Thanks kids.

I'm so looking forward to next year!
This summer I'll be working on my first grad class... English Linguistics. I forgot how much I loved studying, reading text books, and best of all... writing papers! Off to work!
